OUR MOTTO: ” TO IMPROVE AND ENCOURAGE THE STOKE OF SURFING WITH THE SURF CULTURE WE LIVE BY”
OUR OBJECTVE: Is to develop and grow the sport of surfing in the area north of Durban, essentially north of the Umgeni River. This growth is taking place covering various aspects, from the development programmes that are run for youngsters from all backgrounds, like the “Lets Go Surfing” initiatives sponsored by the Sports & Recreation dept. of South Africa, to the inclusion of more talented surfers, providing coaching and assistance to pit their skills against there fellow surfers on a national level.
Zululand Surfing Association is one of the 8 national provinces that form the national base for surfing in South Africa. The other provinces include:- Western Province, Eastern Province, Southern Cape, Border, Boland, Southern KZN, and central KZN. All these regions together compete at a national level to determine the South African Champions in the various age categories.
There are currently five South African Championships that take place per surfing calendar year.
The Reef Grommet Championships:
This is an event designed to introduce young surfers from both genders and all backgrounds to the competitive stage of surfing. It is a fun event that incorporates tag teams, flags and surfing. |

The O’neil SA Junior Championships:
This event caters for the up and coming young stars of our sport. |

The SA Surfing Championships
This is the most prestigious event and holds the most coveted title, being in the open men’s division, along with the open ladies division. |
The Peugot SA Masters Championships:
This event is a men’s championship that accommodates surfers from the age of 28 right through to over 55. |

The SA Women’s Cup:
This is the most prestigious all ladies event with a very much coveted title. It is currently called the Roxy Wahine Cup. The format for this event is available on the South African Surfing website. |
